TEST 5A - Diagnosing Temperature Sensor System
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see appropriate chassis wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS Section. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 71A after each repair.
- If vehicle is equipped with EVIC, perform TEST 5B. If vehicle is not equipped with EVIC and temperature display is more than 130°F (54°C), perform TEST 5C. If vehicle is not equipped with EVIC and temperature display is less than -30°F (-34°C), perform TEST 5D. If vehicle is not equipped with EVIC and temperature display is between 130°F to -30°F (54°C to -34°C), go to next step.
- Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector, located on inside left front bumper. Using DRB-II, measure outside temperature sensor voltage. If voltage is less than 4 volts, replace compass/temperature module. If voltage is more than 4 volts, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire across both ambient temperature sensor connector terminals. If voltage is more than one volt, replace compass/temperature module. If voltage is less than one volt, replace ambient temperature sensor.
