TEST 5C - Checking Temperature Sensor & Terminals For Shorts
NOTE:
For connector identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see appropriate chassis wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS Section. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 71A after each repair.
- USING DRB-II, measure outside temperature sensor voltage. If voltage is more than one volt, replace compass/temperature module. If voltage is less than one volt, go to next step.
- With DRB-II still measuring outside temperature sensor voltage, disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector, located on inside left front bumper. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If voltage is more than one volt, replace ambient temperature sensor. If voltage is less than one volt, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect compass/temperature module. Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at compass/temperature module connector terminal No. 6 (Violet/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace compass/temperature module. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Violet/Light Green wire between compass/temperature module and ambient temperature sensor for short to ground.
