TEST 59A - Washer Fluid Switch Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see appropriate chassis wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS Section.
  1. Check washer fluid level. If washer fluid is low, add fluid as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If fluid level is okay, read washer fluid switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT OPEN, go to step 5). If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT OPEN, disconnect washer fluid level switch connector. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT OPEN, replace washer fluid level switch. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT OPEN, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  2. Disconnect both body controller connectors. Body controller is located behind right side kick panel. Check condition of connectors, and clean or repair connectors as necessary. Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Probe terminal No. 19 (Black/Tan wire) of body controller Red connector.
  3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Tan wire between body controller and washer fluid level switch connector. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
  4. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT OPEN in step 1), disconnect washer fluid level switch connector. Connect a jumper wire between Black/Tan wire and Black wire of washer fluid level switch connector. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace washer fluid level switch. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect jumper wire.
  5. Connect jumper wire between Black/Tan wire of washer fluid level switch connector and ground. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open in Black wire between washer fluid level switch connector and ground. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect both body controller connectors.
  6. Body controller is located behind right side kick panel. Check condition of connectors, and clean or repair connectors as necessary. Reconnect both body controller connectors. Connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 19 (Black/Tan wire) at wiring harness side of body controller Red connector and ground.
  7. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open Black/Tan wire between washer fluid level switch connector and body controller connector. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
