TEST 50B - Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see appropriate chassis wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS Section.
  1. Observe electronic instrument cluster. If oil warning indicator (oil can symbol) is flashing, go to step 5). If oil warning indicator is not flashing, turn engine off. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Disconnect oil pressure sending unit connector. Connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 1 (Gray/Yellow wire) of oil pressure sending unit connector and ground.
  2. Using DRB-II, read oil pressure sending unit voltage. If DRB-II displays less than one volt, replace oil pressure sending unit. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If DRB-II displays more than one volt, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect body controller Red connector. Body controller is located behind right side kick panel.
  3. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Reconnect body controller Red connector. Connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 11 (Gray/Yellow wire) at wiring harness side of body controller Red connector and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
  4. If DRB-II displays less than one volt, repair open Gray/Yellow wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If DRB-II displays more than one volt, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
  5. If oil warning indicator (oil can symbol) is flashing in step 1), turn engine off. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Disconnect oil pressure sending unit connector. Observe electronic instrument cluster. If oil warning indicator (oil can symbol) is not flashing, replace oil pressure sending unit. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
  6. If oil warning indicator is flashing, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect electronic instrument cluster connector. See Figure. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode.
  7. Probe terminal No. 2 (Gray wire) of oil pressure sending unit connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace electronic instrument cluster. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
