Test SP-10A - Repairing Cruise Control Switch Circuits For Short To Ground

  1. Disconnect and inspect cruise control servo connector. If connector condition is not okay, repair connector as necessary. Replace cruise control fuse. Perform TEST SP-VER  . If connector condition is okay, probe terminal No. 3 (White wire) at cruise control switch connector.
  2. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace cruise control servo and cruise control fuse. Perform TEST SP-VER  . If resistance is less than 10 ohms, disconnect brake switch connector. Inspect connector. If connector condition is not okay, repair connector as necessary. Replace cruise control fuse. Perform TEST SP-VER  .
  3. If connector condition is okay, probe terminal No. 3 (White wire) at cruise control switch connector. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to step 5). If resistance is more than 10 ohms, probe terminal No. 6 (Dark Blue/Red wire) at brake switch connector.
  4. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/Red wire. Replace cruise control fuse. Perform TEST SP-VER  . If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace brake switch and cruise control fuse. Perform TEST SP-VER  .
  5. If resistance at White wire is less than 10 ohms in step 3), disconnect clockspring 5-pin connector. See Figure . Inspect connector. If connector condition is not okay, repair connector as necessary. Replace cruise control fuse. Perform TEST SP-VER  .
  6. If connector condition is okay, probe terminal No. 5 (Yellow/Red wire) at brake switch connector. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace clockspring assembly and cruise control fuse. Perform TEST SP-VER  . If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire. Replace cruise control fuse. Perform TEST SP-VER  .
