Dr6, Code 23 - Charge Temp Sensor
NOTE:
Some vehicles made in Mexico do not have air charge temperature sensor. There is a fixed 69° signal given to the PCM so there is always an air charge code in memory. On vehicles without air charge temperature sensor, there is no diagnostic information available from manufacturer.
- With DRB II connected to diagnostic connector, disconnect throttle body/charge temperature sensor connector. Put system in Sensor Test "03". If display on tester reads 5 volts, go to next step. If display on tester reads zero volts, or zero volts and then increases, replace SMEC. Before replacing SMEC, ensure cavity No. 21 of 60-pin connector is not shorted to ground.
- With DRB II connected and system in Sensor Test "03", connect a jumper wire between Black/Red and Black/Light Blue wire terminals of throttle body/charge temperature sensor harness connector. If display on tester reads zero volts, replace throttle body temperature sensor. If display on tester reads 5 volts, go to next step.
- Connect one end of a jumper wire to ground. Connect other end of wire to Black/Red wire terminal of throttle body/charge temperature sensor connector. If display reads zero volts, repair Black/Light Blue wire of throttle body/charge temperature sensor connector for an open circuit to wiring harness splice. If display on tester reads 5 volts, repair wire of throttle body temperature sensor connector for an open circuit to SMEC.
