Checking Fluid Levels

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 13 other vehicles, including the 1983 Plymouth Turismo, 1983 Plymouth Scamp Pickup, 1983 Plymouth Reliant, 1983 Plymouth Horizon, and 1983 Dodge Rampage. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. With transmission warmed to operating temperature, engine at curb idle and parking brake applied, shift selector through all positions, ending in "P".
  2. Fluid level should be between "ADD" and "FULL" mark on dipstick. Check condition of fluid for contamination or burned smell. Reseat dipstick carefully to seal out water and dirt.
    CAUTION: Do not overfill.
