DRIVEABILITY Test Fault Code Diagnostic Sequence

  1. Connect diagnostic readout box to engine harness connector. Turn ignition on-off-on-off-on within 5 seconds. Record all codes. Turn ignition off. Disconnect and reconnect battery connector. Start engine.
    CAUTION: DO NOT depress accelerator pedal to start engine.
  2. Move transmission gear selector through all ranges (auto. trans.). Press A/C button on and off (if equipped). Turn engine off. Turn ignition on-off-on-off-on within 5 seconds. Record all codes.
  3. If same code is displayed before and after the engine is started, the problem still exists. If code is not displayed after engine is started, problem no longer exists, but was intermittent. Check for loose or corroded wiring connections in the indicated circuit. Use wiring diagram as a guide.
