Checking Fluid Level

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 1983 Jeep Wagoneer, 1983 Jeep Scrambler, 1983 Jeep Pickup, 1983 Jeep Cherokee, and 1983 Jeep CJ7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface and apply parking brake. With engine idling at normal operating temperature, move transmission selector lever through all gears, ending in "N". Check fluid level.
  2. Fluid level should be between "FULL' and "ADD ONE PINT" mark on dipstick. Add fluid as needed. DO NOT  overfill.
