Circuit/System Testing
NOTE:
Use the Wiring Schematics and connector end views to identify the device's ground, B+, ignition, and LIN serial data circuit terminals.
- Ignition/Vehicle OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S25 Garage Door Opener Transmitter.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between the ground circuit terminal 3 and B+.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
Repair the open/high resistance in the ground circuit or ground connection.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
- Ignition ON/Vehicle In Service Mode.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is good
- Test for an open/high resistance in the B+ circuit.
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
- Verify the fuse is not open and there is voltage at the fuse.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is open
- Test for a short to ground in the B+ circuit.
- If a short to ground is found, repair the fault in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
- Replace the S25 Garage Door Opener Transmitter.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
- Ignition/Vehicle OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S70R Radio Control Switch - Steering Wheel.
- Ignition ON/Vehicle In Service Mode.
- Test for 3.5-12 V between the Radio LIN Bus 1 circuit terminal 6 (circuit 10652) at the S25 Garage Door Opener Transmitter and ground.
- If less than 3.5 V
- Ignition/Vehicle OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the A11 Radio.
- Test for infinite resistance between the Radio LIN Bus 1 circuit terminal and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the Radio LIN Bus 1 circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 2 Ω
- Replace the A11 Radio.
- If greater than 12 V
- Ignition/Vehicle OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the A11 Radio.
- Ignition ON/Vehicle In Service Mode.
- Test for less than 1 V between the Radio LIN Bus 1 circuit terminal and ground.
- If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 1 V
- Replace the A11 Radio.
- Go to next step: If between 3.5-12 V
- Ignition/Vehicle OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the A11 Radio.
- Reconnect the harness connector at the S25 Garage Door Opener Transmitter.
- Ignition ON/Vehicle In Service Mode.
- Test for 3.5-12 V between the Radio LIN Bus 1 circuit terminal 18 X2 at the A11 Radio and ground.
- If less than 3.5 V or greater than 12 V
Replace the S25 Garage Door Opener Transmitter.
- Go to next step: If between 3.5-12 V
- If less than 3.5 V or greater than 12 V
- Ignition/Vehicle OFF, reconnect the harness connector at the S70R Radio Control Switch - Steering Wheel.
- Ignition ON/Vehicle In Service Mode.
- Test for 3.5-12 V between the Radio LIN Bus 1 circuit terminal 18 X2 at the A11 Radio and ground.
- If less than 3.5 V or greater than 12 V
Replace the S70R Radio Control Switch - Steering Wheel.
- Go to next step: If between 3.5-12 V
- If less than 3.5 V or greater than 12 V
- Ignition/Vehicle OFF, inspect both harness and component connectors for contamination, corrosion, and terminal tension.
- Reconnect the harness connector at the S25 Garage Door Opener Transmitter, the S70R Radio Control Switch - Steering Wheel, and the A11 Radio. Verify the connector/terminals are fully seated.
- Ignition ON/Vehicle In Service Mode.
- Verify the S25 Garage Door Opener Transmitter is operational using the EL-52545.
- If the S25 Garage Door Opener Transmitter is still not functional, replace the S25 Garage Door Opener Transmitter.
- Go to next step: If the S25 Garage Door Opener is functional
- A fault is currently not present and may be an intermittent condition.
- Instruct the customer to program the Universal Remote to their opener. Refer to the vehicle owners manual. If further malfunction occurs, a possible rolling code or incompatibility with the Universal Remote will prevent programming.
NOTE:
For accurate voltage reading, disconnect the battery charger prior to performing the following test step.
