Surround Vision Camera Calibration (cameras wired to K124 Image Processing Module): Notes
- The surround vision camera system image will be slightly distorted at all times because the camera (s) lens is a fish-eye lens meant to capture as much range as possible.
- An Image Processing Module that is not fully calibrated will display a surround vision camera system image that is unclear and / or have camera images that are not stitched together smoothly.
- The Image Processing Module may still display rear camera display guidelines even if it is not fully calibrated.
Proper camera calibration is essential to have the Image Processing Module display clear, smooth surround vision images. The Image Processing Module continuously calibrates the camera images to optimize the displayed surround vision camera system image.
Approximate calibration status can be viewed via the Learn Status parameter in the scan tool. The parameter will display: Not Learned, Learn in Progress, Learned, or Learn Failed.
If any of the cameras of the Surround Vision Camera System are replaced, the new camera image needs to be calibrated to the system. Performing the Reset Camera Alignment Learned Values in the scan tool causes the Image Processing Module to clear the previously-learned calibration values for the cameras, and learn the current cameras more quickly and efficiently.
To initiate calibration, perform Reset Camera Alignment Learned Values in the scan tool and follow the on-screen instructions.
