Removal Procedure

Drain the transmission fluid. Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill
Remove the transfer case bracket. Transfer Case Bracket Replacement
Remove the exhaust front muffler. Exhaust Front Muffler with Exhaust Aftertreatment Replacement (LFY)
Disconnect the two piece propeller shaft from the transfer case. Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement

Remove the front transmission mount through bolt. Transmission Mount Replacement (Front)
Remove the transmission mount strut bracket. Transmission Mount Strut Bracket Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
Disconnect the shift actuator electrical connector.

Remove the transmission to transfer case bolt (1).
Support the transfer case with a suitable jack, and secure with suitable straps.

Remove the transfer case-to-transmission bolt (1).

Disconnect the transfer case vent hose (1) from the transfer case (2).

Remove the remaining transfer case-to-transmission bolts (1).
Separate the transfer case (2) from the transmission and remove the transfer case.

NOTE:
Ensure the power transfer unit interface O-ring seal is removed and a NEW seal is installed when the original transfer case will be re-installed.

If necessary, remove the power transfer unit interface O-ring seal (1).
