Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector: K89 Immobilizer Control Module
  3. Test for less than 10 Ω between the test points: Ground circuit terminal 1 & Ground
    • If less than 10 Ω
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector: K9 Body Control Module
    2. Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points: K89 Immobilizer Control Module Ground circuit terminal 1 & K9 Body Control Module Ground circuit terminal X3 1
      • If greater than 2 Ω Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω - Replace the component: K9 Body Control Module
    • Go to next step: If greater than 10 Ω
  4. Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points: B+ circuit terminal 3 & Ground
    • If the test lamp does not turn On
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector: K9 Body Control Module
    3. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: B+ circuit terminal 3K89 Immobilizer Control Module & Ground
      • If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance Replace the component: K9 Body Control Module
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On
  5. Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points: K89 Immobilizer Control Module Signal circuit terminal 2 & K9 Body Control Module Signal circuit terminal X3 2
    • If greater than 2 Ω

Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.

    • Go to next step: If less than 2 Ω
  6. Replace the component: K89 Immobilizer Control Module
