Preliminary Procedures Remove the front side door trim. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Replacement .
1	Front Side Door Outside Handle Rod Clip Procedure Remove the water deflector. When replacing the rod, the clip needs to be replaced. Refer to Front and Rear Side Door Outside Handle Rod Clip Replacement
2	Front Side Door Outside Handle Rod Procedure Use a flat-head tool to open the lower clip from the threaded rod connecting the lock to the outside handle. Position the rear side door outside handle rod in the clip in order to eliminate any free play in the outside door handle. Adjust the travel of the handle by removing the threaded rod from the clip. Install the clip cover closed over the threaded front side door outside handle rod. NOTE: Inspect the door locking system for proper operation before installing the door trim.

Procedure

Remove the water deflector.
When replacing the rod, the clip needs to be replaced. Refer to Front and Rear Side Door Outside Handle Rod Clip Replacement

Front Side Door Outside Handle Rod

Procedure

Use a flat-head tool to open the lower clip from the threaded rod connecting the lock to the outside handle.
Position the rear side door outside handle rod in the clip in order to eliminate any free play in the outside door handle.
Adjust the travel of the handle by removing the threaded rod from the clip.
Install the clip cover closed over the threaded front side door outside handle rod.

NOTE:

Inspect the door locking system for proper operation before installing the door trim.
