13262 - SERVICE UPDATE PROGRAM - SEAT POSITION SWITCH BRACKET REPLACEMENT

SERVICE CAMPAIGN BULLETIN

CONDITION

The Driver's seat position sensor may not sense when the Driver seat is located in the forward one-third of the available travel.

CORRECTION

Dealers are required to replace the Driver seat position sensor bracket with a new revised design that features 2 bracket mounting screws.

VEHICLES INVOLVED

Involved are certain  2014 model year Chevrolet Caprice vehicles.

A listing of involved vehicles containing the complete vehicle identification number has been prepared and is provided with this bulletin.

PARTS INFORMATION

Parts required to complete this recall are to be obtained from General Motors Customer Care and Aftersales (GMCC&A). Please refer to your "involved vehicles listing" before ordering parts. Normal orders should be placed on a DRO = Daily Replenishment Order. In an emergency situation, parts should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order.

In the Service Procedure the Following Parts are to be Re-Used: 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Disable the SRS System:

    Follow SI Document ID #2107228 to disable the SRS system (SIR Disabling & Enabling).

  2. Locate the LHF Seat Position Sensor Bracket: Adjust the Left Front (LHF) Seat height adjuster to the completely raised and full forward position. This will allow access to the Seat Position Sensor bracket on the inboard seat rail via the rear foot-well as shown above.

    CAUTION:

    Do NOT unplug the Seat Position Sensor connector during the service operation. 

  3. Remove the Seat Position Sensor Bracket Screw using a T15 Torx Bit and Driver.

    Retain the screw for re-use.

  4. CAUTION:

    Do NOT unplug the Seat Position Sensor connector during the service operation. 


    Remove the Seat Position Sensor from the Bracket, using a T25 Torx Bit and Driver. Remove the Seat Position Sensor from the existing bracket.

    Retain the screw for re-use. 

  5. Identify the Replacement Bracket:

    Original Bracket (Single Hole)

  6. Assemble the Seat Position Sensor to the Replacement Bracket. Re-use the existing screw for this operation (Screw P/N: 92293160). Using a T25 Torx Bit and Driver, assemble the Seat Position Sensor to the replacement Bracket. Torque the fastener to 2.5 Nm +/- 1 Nm.

    CAUTION:

    Do NOT unplug the SPS connector during the service operation. 

  7. Re-Assemble the Seat Position Sensor replacement bracket to the seat rail. Use one new screw (P/N: 92272773) and re-use the existing screw for this operation. Using a T15 Torx Bit and Driver, assemble the Seat Position Sensor to the replacement Bracket. Torque the fasteners to 2.0 Nm +/- 0.5 Nm.

  8. Enable the SRS System:

    Follow SI Document ID #2107228 to enable the SRS system (SIR Disabling & Enabling).

  9. Test the Seat Position Sensor function:

    Connect the MDI interface to the vehicle and launch GDS2 Diagnostics.

    Confirm the correct vehicle details are entered.

    Navigate through the Diagnostics menu to the following path:

  10. Test the Seat Position Sensor function forward:

    Move the seat all the way forward

    The Driver Seat Position Sensor GDS2 Display should show 'Forward'  as highlighted blue below.

  11. Test the Seat Position Sensor function:

    Move the seat all the way rearward

    The Driver Seat Position Sensor GDS2 Display should change to show 'Rearward' as highlighted blue below.

  12. . Complete the following steps:

    Record the completed vehicle VIN details and provide a copy to the GM Middle East Operations Aftersales representative.

    GM Middle East Aftersales to provide completed VIN list to GM Holden Aftersales Service Engineering.

In the event that the GDS2 / MDI diagnostic test indicates that the Seat Position Sensor is not functioning normally, quarantine the vehicle immediately and contact GM Holden Aftersales for further instruction.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION

Dealers are not required to notify customers.

Submit a transaction using the table below. All transactions should be submitted as a ZFAT transaction type, unless noted otherwise.

DEALER PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY

All unsold new vehicles in dealers' possession and subject to this program must  be held and inspected/repaired per the service procedure of this program bulletin before  customers take possession of these vehicles.

Dealers are to service all vehicles subject to this program at no charge to customers, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership.

In summary, whenever a vehicle subject to this program enters your vehicle inventory, or is in your facility for service, you must take the steps necessary to be sure the program correction has been made before selling or releasing the vehicle.
