Circuit/System Testing

Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module when performing this diagnostic. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
- Ignition OFF, remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
- Disconnect the harness connector of the cruise control switch.
- Ignition ON, measure for 10 volts or greater at the steering wheel control supply voltage circuit.
- If less than 10 volts, check for an open/high resistance or for a short to ground on the cruise control supply voltage circuit.
- Test for 0 volts at the cruise control switch connector terminal 3.
- If voltage is present, test cruise control switch signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the BCM X1 connector. Test for 0 ohms resistance between BCM connector X1 terminal 3 and the cruise control switch connector terminal 3.
- If greater than the specified value, test the cruise control switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Test for infinite resistance between the cruise control switch connector terminal 3 and ground.
- If any resistance is measured, test the cruise control switch signal circuit for a short to ground.
- If all circuits test normal, test the component. If the circuit and the component tests are normal, replace the BCM.
