Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Cadillac SRX. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate B59 front impact sensor or B63 side impact sensor.
  2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the scan tool, wait 120 seconds, test for less than 10 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K36 SDM.
  3. Test for greater than 50k Ω between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K36 SDM.
  4. Disconnect the harness connector at the SDM.
  5. Test for less than 1 Ω between the impact sensor signal circuit terminal 1 and the SDM terminal listed below.
    • B59 Left front impact sensor terminal 23 X2
    • B59 Right front impact sensor terminal 26 X2
    • B63 Left front side impact sensor terminal 19 X2
    • B63 Right front side impact sensor terminal 22 X2
    • B63 Left rear side impact sensor terminal 27 X2
    • B63 Right rear side impact sensor terminal 30 X2
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for an open/high resistance.
  6. If all circuits test normal, replace the B59 front impact sensor or B63 side impact sensor. The DTC should not be set as current.
    • If the DTC resets as current, replace the K36 SDM.
