Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON, command the driver window UP, DOWN, express UP and express DOWN with a scan tool. The driver window should perform the UP, DOWN, express UP and express DOWN commands.
    • If the driver window does perform as specified, refer to Driver Window Motor Malfunction in Circuit/System Testing .
  2. Command the driver window UP, DOWN, express UP and express DOWN by using the window switch-driver. The driver window should perform the UP, DOWN, express UP and express DOWN commands.
    • If the driver window does perform as specified, refer to Driver Window Switch Malfunction in Circuit/System Testing .
  3. Command the passenger, left rear and right rear window UP and DOWN using the appropriate switch on the driver window switch and by using the passenger, left rear and right rear window switches. The each window should perform the UP and DOWN functions from each switch.
    • If a passenger or rear window functions from their local window switch but is inoperative from the driver window switch, test or replace the S79D window switch-driver.
    • If the passenger window functions from the driver window switch but not from the passenger window switch, refer to Passenger Window Switch Malfunction in Circuit/System Testing .
    • If the passenger window is inoperative from both the driver and passenger window switch, refer to Passenger Window Inoperative in Circuit/System Testing .
    • If a rear window functions from the driver window switch but not from a local rear window switch, refer to Rear Window Switch Malfunction in Circuit/System Testing .
    • If a rear window is inoperative from both the driver window switch and the local rear window switch, refer to Rear Window Inoperative in Circuit/System Testing .
  4. Disable and enable the rear window door switches by pressing and depressing the lockout switch on the driver door lock/window switch. The rear door power window switches should be enabled and disabled when changing between the commanded states.
    • If one or both rear window switches continue to function while disabled, refer to Rear Window Switch Malfunction in Circuit/System Testing .
