Removal Procedure

    WARNING:

    Refer to SIR Warning .

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the steering column tilt wheel release lever knob from the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Wheel Release Lever Replacement .
  3. Remove the driver knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement .

  4. Separate the retaining tabs on the lower steering column trim cover (1) from the upper steering column trim cover and steering column housing trim extension cover (2).
  5. Disconnect the steering column telescope switch connector from the steering column harness.
  6. Remove the straps securing the steering column telescope switch wires to the steering column wiring harness.
  7. Remove the steering column telescope switch wires from the lower steering column trim cover, which are routed in clips along the bottom of the lower steering column trim cover.

  8. From the inside of the lower steering column trim cover, push out the steering column telescope switch (1).
  9. Remove the steering column telescope switch and wires from the lower steering column trim cover.
