Installation Procedure

  1. Install the tank retaining straps and brackets. Make sure the straps are oriented properly and tighten to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

  2. If replacing the tank assembly, PRD connecting lines, brackets and devices must be transferred to the new tank. Replace all O-rings.
  3. Support midship tank assembly on tank cradle assembly and raise.
    4. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Secure using the 4 tank assembly bracket bolts and tighten to 79 N.m (60 lb ft).
  5. Install the high pressure fuel supply line.
  6. Using New O-rings, lubricate the new O-rings with petroleum jelly or equivalent before installation.

  7. Connect the electrical connectors.
  8. Install the tank shield brackets and tighten the bolts to 60 N.m (52 lb ft).
  9. Open the manual tank valves.
  10. Start the vehicle and inspect for CNG fuel leaks at the serviced fittings with the J-45878  detector or an equivalent leak detector.
  11. Install ALL the fuel tank covers. Refer to Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Aft Tank , , Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Cargo Tank , , and Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Midship Tank .
