Installation Procedure

  1. Position the tank assembly in the vehicle.
  2. Raise and lower the tank assembly onto the vehicle tank brackets.
  3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Install the tank strap retaining nuts and bolts (4) and tighten the mounting fasteners to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).
  5. Connect the fuel inlet line to the high pressure lock-off using a new O-ring. Lubricate the O-ring with petroleum jelly or equivalent. Tighten the fitting to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).
  6. Connect the HPL vent lines and tighten to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

  8. Connect the electrical connector at the high pressure lock-off solenoid.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  10. Open all tank manual valves.
  11. Prime the CNG fuel system by cycling the ignition ON and OFF several times.
  12. Start the engine and use the J-45878  detector or equivalent in order to inspect for CNG fuel system leaks at each serviced fitting.
  13. Install the vapor bag.
  14. Install the fuel tank cover. Refer to Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Aft Tank , , Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Cargo Tank , and Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Midship Tank .
