Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and properly support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Vent both aft fuel tanks if replacing one using the Compressed Natural Gas Tank Venting .
  3. WARNING:

    Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .

  4. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

  6. Close the manual tank valve(s).

  8. Support tank assembly with aft axle tank cradle.
  9. Remove the trailer hitch. Refer to Trailer Weight-Distributing Hitch Platform Replacement .
  10. Disconnect the electrical connections.
  11. NOTE:

    Do Not remove "Live" pressure relief device (PRD) lines.

  12. Disconnect the fuel line fittings.

  14. Remove the bracket support nuts and lower aft axle tank assembly.
  15. Disconnect the aft tank fuel lines.
  16. Remove the aft tank retaining straps.
  17. Carefully remove the aft tanks from the vehicle.
