Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Chevrolet Caprice. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    WARNING:

    Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS). Before applying power to the SIS make sure that it is securely fastened. Failure to observe the correct installation procedures could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

    WARNING:

    Refer to SIR Warning .

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the centre console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .

    NOTE:

    The sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) (4) is shown with the carpet removed for illustration purposes only. Removal of the front carpet or the front seats is not necessary to service the SDM (4).

  4. Disconnect the SDM electrical connectors (1) and (2) from the SDM (4).
  5. Remove the SDM to transmission tunnel retaining nuts (5).
  6. Disconnect the SDM earth strap bolt (3).
  7. Remove the SDM (4).
