Circuit/System Testing

Passenger Window Inoperative, Detective Model

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K90 window control module.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
  3. Command the passenger window UP by using the S101 door lock/window switch. The test lamp should illuminate during the UP command.
    • If the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the S101 door lock/window switch.
    • If the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the S101 door lock/window switch.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 9 and ground.
  5. Command the passenger window DOWN by using the S101 door lock/window switch. The test lamp should illuminate during the DOWN command.
  6. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the K90 window control module.
  7. Disconnect the harness connector at the M74P window motor-passenger.
  8. Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal A and control circuit terminal B.
  9. Command the passenger window UP and DOWN by using the window switch on the S101 door lock/window switch. The test lamp should illuminate during the UP and DOWN command.
    • If the test lamp is always OFF during either for the commands, test either control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K90 window control module.
    • If the test lamp is always ON, test either signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the K90 window control module.
  10. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the M74P window motor-passenger.

Passenger Window Inoperative, Police Model

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the S79P door window switch-passenger.
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K90 window control module.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
  6. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 9 and ground.
  7. Command the passenger window DOWN by using the S101 door lock/window switch. The test lamp should illuminate during the DOWN command.
  8. Ignition OFF, connect the X2 harness connector at the S79P window switch passenger.
  9. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
  10. Command the passenger window UP by using the S79P window switch passenger. The test lamp should illuminate during the UP command.
    • If the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the S79P window switch passenger.
    • If the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the S79P window switch passenger.
  11. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 9 and ground.
  12. Command the passenger window DOWN by using the S79P window switch passenger. The test lamp should illuminate during the DOWN command.
  13. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the K90 window control module.
  14. Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal A and control circuit terminal B.
  16. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the M74P window motor-passenger.
