Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Saturn Outlook, 2009 GMC Acadia, 2009 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2009 Buick Enclave. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: When removing connectors, inspect for damage or corrosion. Damage or corrosion in the following requires repair or replacement of the affected component/connector:
  • PPS pressure sensor
  • PPS pressure sensor wiring harness connector
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the PPS sensor.
  2. Test for less then 10 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
    • If greater then the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 3 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the inflatable restraint rollover sensor.
  5. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  6. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage.
  7. Test for less than 1 ohm on the signal circuit between the PPS sensor terminal 1 and rollover sensor terminal 3.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for open/high resistance.
  8. Reconnect all PPS components and perform the Passenger Presence System Programming and Setup procedure.
  9. Clear DTCs, verify DTC B0074 is not set.
    • If the DTC sets, replace the PPS sensor.
