Circuit/System Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Saturn Outlook, 2010 GMC Acadia, 2010 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2010 Buick Enclave. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) controls the variable effort steering (VES) actuator on the steering gear. As speed increases the EBCM commands the amperage to the actuator to a max of 1A, this closes the orifice and restricts fluid flow for a firm steering effort. At low speeds and parking lot maneuvers the orifice is normally open allowing maximum fluid flow for an easy steering effort.
