Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering pump in the vehicle.
    2. Fig 1: Identifying Steering Pump Components

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  2. Install the power steering pump bolts (5, 6, 7) through the pulley holes.

    Tighten:  Tighten the power steering pump bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft)  .

    3. NOTE: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice .
  3. Install the supply hose (3) and the hose clamp (4) to the pump inlet.
  4. Install the pressure pipe (1) and the fitting (2) to the pump outlet.

    Tighten:  Tighten the pressure pipe fitting to 28 N.m (21 lb ft)  .

  5. Connect the electrical connector at the EVO solenoid actuator.
  6. Install the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  7. Install the engine beauty cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
    8. NOTE: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice .
  8. Fill the reservoir with power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
    9. NOTE: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice .
  9. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
