- Ignition OFF, disconnect the battery current sensor.
- Ignition OFF and scan tool disconnected, test for less than 65 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal B and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit and the BCM ground circuits for an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the BCM.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal A and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, then replace the BCM.
- If greater than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, then replace the BCM.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the signal circuit terminal C and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the battery current sensor.

- Verify that the battery current sensor is installed securely around the negative battery cable, and positioned with the tape tab pointing away from the negative terminal of the battery and toward the chassis ground.
- If the battery current sensor is not installed correctly, remove and reinstall the sensor properly.
- Replace the battery current sensor.
