Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Disconnect the engine control module (ECM) connector that contains the MIL control circuit.
  2. Jumper the MIL control circuit with a J 36169-A  at the ECM connector to a good ground.
  3. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
    • If the MIL illuminates replace the ECM.
  4. Test the MIL voltage supply circuit for an open or short to ground.
  5. Test the MIL control circuit for a short to voltage or a short to ground.
    • If the all circuits test OK replace the instrument panel cluster assembly.
