Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. If you are replacing one assist step support bracket, remove the assist step nut. If you are replacing more than one assist step support bracket, remove the assist step. Refer to Assist Step Replacement .
  3. Remove the assist step support bracket to assist step support inner bracket bolts.
  4. Remove the assist step support bracket from the vehicle.
  5. If you are replacing the assist step support inner brackets, perform the following steps.
    1. Mark the location of the assist step support inner brackets with a grease pencil.
    2. Drill out the assist step support inner bracket rivets.
    3. Remove the assist step support inner bracket from the vehicle.
