Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 GMC Safari and 2004 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. For RWD, install the battery negative cable in the same position as the original.

  2. For A4WD, install the battery negative cable in the same position as the original.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Connect the battery negative cable to the engine.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 40 N.m (29 lb ft).

  4. Install the engine harness to the stud.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  5. Connect the battery negative cable ground lead to the radiator support.

    Tighten:  Tighten the stud to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).

  6. Connect the battery negative terminal bolt to the battery.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
