Automatic Transmission Internal Wiring Harness Check

  1. Disconnect the transaxle harness.
  2. Measure the resistance between terminals 3 and 13 of the transaxle wiring connector. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 3  Go to Step 2

  1. Disconnect the internal transaxle harness from the first solenoid valve.
  2. Measure the resistance of the first solenoid valve. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 20  Go to Step 22 
3 Measure the resistance between terminals 3 and 13 of the second solenoid valve. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 5  Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the internal transaxle harness from the second solenoid valve.
  2. Measure the resistance of the second solenoid valve. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 20  Go to Step 22 
5 Measure the resistance between terminals 5 and 6 the transaxle wiring connector (PCS 3). Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table.
Go to Step 7  Go to Step 6

  1. Disconnect the internal transaxle harness from the pressure control valve 3, (PCS 3).
  2. Measure the resistance of the PCS 3. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 20  Go to Step 22 
7 Measure the resistance between terminals 5 and 7 the transaxle wiring connector (PCS 4). Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the internal transaxle harness from the pressure control valve 4, (PCS 4).
  2. Measure the resistance of the PCS 4. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 20  Go to Step 22 
9 Measure the resistance between terminals 5 and 10 the transaxle wiring connector, (PCS 5). Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 11  Go to Step 10

  1. Disconnect the internal transaxle harness from the pressure control valve 5, PCS 5.
  2. Measure the resistance of the PCS 5. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 20  Go to Step 22 
11 Measure the resistance between terminals 5 and 11 the transaxle wiring connector, (PCS 6). Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 13  Go to Step 12

  1. Disconnect the internal transaxle harness from the pressure control valve 6, PCS 6.
  2. Measure the resistance of the PCS 6. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 20  Go to Step 22 
13 Measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 9 the transaxle wiring connector, the transaxle temperature sensor. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 15  Go to Step 14

  1. Disconnect the internal transaxle harness from the transaxle temperature sensor.
  2. Measure the resistance of the transaxle temperature sensor. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 20  Go to Step 22 
15 Measure the resistance between terminals 15 and 16 the transaxle wiring connector, the transaxle input speed sensor. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 17  Go to Step 16

  1. Disconnect the internal transaxle harness from the transaxle input speed sensor.
  2. Measure the resistance of the input speed sensor. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 20  Go to Step 22 
17 Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 the transaxle wiring connector, the transaxle output speed sensor. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 19  Go to Step 18

  1. Disconnect the internal transaxle harness from the transaxle output speed sensor.
  2. Measure the resistance of the transaxle output speed sensor. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
Go to Step 20  Go to Step 22 
19 Measure the resistance between terminals of internal wiring harness. Refer to Component Resistance .
Is the resistance shown in the Component Resistance table?
System OK Go to Step 21

  1. Inspect the transaxle wiring for poor electrical connections at the transaxle.
  2. Look for possible bent, backed out, deformed of damaged terminals.
  3. Check for weak terminal tension.
  4. Replace the wiring or damaged terminal
Is the repair complete?
Go to Step 12  System OK
21 Replace the internal wiring harness.
Is the replacement complete?
System OK -
22 Replace the component.
Is the replacement complete?
System OK -
