Shift Control Cable

CAUTION: Misadjusted shift linkage could cause transaxle clutch and/or band failure.
  1. Set the parking brake. Remove the console. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEMS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.
  2. Lift and unlock the shift cable retainers. See Fig 1 .
  3. Push the shifter neutral lock clip. See Fig 2 . Move the shifter slightly in order to center the lock clip.
  4. Ensure the transaxle is in Neutral. Press and lock the shift cable retainers. See Fig 3 .
  5. Pull the shifter neutral lock clip to its original position. See Fig 1 . Install the console. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEMS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.
