Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the side rear door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Right (E24, 40 Door)  or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Right (E24, 60 Door)  or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Left (E26, 40 Door)  or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Left (E26, 60 Door) .
  2. Disconnect the lock rods (3) from the side rear door latch handle (4).
  3. Remove the nuts (2) that retain the side rear door latch handle (4) to the side rear door.
  4. Remove the side rear door latch handle (4) from the door.
