Test F: Security Indicator Led Inoperative
NOTE:
Theft LED may be referred to as theft deterrent indicator light, or security indicator LED.
- If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform THEFT DETERRENT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Arm Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system. Observe theft LED. If theft LED does not illuminate, go to next step. If theft LED illuminates, inspect for intermittents. See TROUBLE SHOOTING .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Blue 32-pin harness connector C2. BCM is located behind right side of instrument panel, right of glove box. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and BCM harness connector C2 terminal D15 (Yellow wire). See Figure . If theft LED does not illuminate, go to next step. If theft LED illuminates, go to step 6 .
- Disconnect theft LED harness connector. Connect a test light between ground and theft LED harness connector Orange wire terminal. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 8 .
- Inspect Yellow wire for an open or short to voltage between theft LED harness connector and BCM harness connector C2 terminal D15. See Figure . If problem does not exist, go to step 7 . If problem exists, repair Yellow wire as necessary. After repair, go to step 11 .
- Inspect BCM harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step 9 . If problem exists, repair BCM harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step 11 .
- Inspect theft LED harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step 10 . If problem exists, repair theft LED harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step 11 .
- Repair open or short to ground in Orange wire between theft LED and underhood junction block. After repair, go to step 11 .
- Replace BCM. Program BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE PROGRAMMING/REGULAR PRODUCTION OPTION CONFIGURATION under PROGRAMMING in BODY CONTROL MODULES - MONTANA, SILHOUETTE & VENTURE article. After repair, go to step 11 .
- Replace theft LED. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step 3 .
