Test E: Security Indicator Inoperative

  1. If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform THEFT DETERRENT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Cycle ignition switch from OFF to RUN position. Observe SECURITY indicator during display test. If SECURITY indicator does not illuminate during display test, go to next step. If SECURITY indicator illuminates during display test, review operation of SECURITY indicator. See SECURITY INDICATOR OPERATION  under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION.
  3. Replace Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). See ANALONG INSTRUMENT PANELS - MONTANA, SILHOUETTE & VENTURE article. Program IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER PROGRAMMING/SYNCHRONIZATION under PROGRAMMING in BODY CONTROL MODULES - MONTANA, SILHOUETTE & VENTURE article. After repair, go to next step.
  4. Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step  2 .
