Try to establish scan tool communication with Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM), Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If communication with all modules is established, go to next step. If communication with all modules is not established, perform TEST E: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Select DISPLAY DTC function for EBCM, IPC and PCM. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, repair Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) by symptom. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
- If scan tool does not display any DTCs that begin with "U", go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs that begin with "U", perform TEST E: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If scan tool displays DTC B1000 or B1004, perform DTC B1000: CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTION and/or DTC B1004: CONTROL MODULE KEEP ALIVE MEMORY MALFUNCTION under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If scan tool does not display DTC B1000 or B1004, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
