Test F: Security Light Indicator Inoperative

  1. If theft deterrent system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If theft deterrent system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Observe instrument cluster. Turn ignition on. If SECURITY indicator illuminates during bulb check, problem is intermittent. If SECURITY indicator does not illuminate during bulb check, go to next step.
  3. Inspect Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) harness connector for poor connections. If a problem is found, repair as necessary, then go to step  5 . If a problem is not found, go to next step.
  4. Replace IPC. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CORVETTE article. After repairs, go to next step.
  5. Recheck system operation. If problem exists, go to step  2 . If problem does not exist, system is okay.
