Cruise Control Main & Functional Switches
NOTE:
Cruise control functional switches may also be referred to as cruise control mode switch.
Cruise control main switch, located in switch panel at left end of dash, controls the on/off functions of cruise control system. Cruise control functional switches are located on the end of the lever located on right side of steering column. Lever also contains wiper/washer switches. Cruise control functional switches include a CANCEL button and a rotating switch with COAST/SET and RESUME/ACCEL positions.
- OFF
System disengages when switch is turned off. - ON
System is ready to be set when switch is turned on. - CANCEL
Cancel button, located at end of switch lever, disengages cruise control without turning system off. Memory of set speed is not retained. - COAST/SET
Rotating spring-loaded COAST/SET switch counterclockwise engages cruise. During engagement, if COAST/SET switch is rotated and held, vehicle decelerates (cruise disengages) until switch is released. When switch is released, cruise engages and maintains new set speed. - RESUME/ACCEL
Rotating spring-loaded RESUME/ACCEL switch will not initially set cruise speed, but when cruise has been disengaged by braking, momentarily rotating this switch clockwise to RESUME/ACCEL position will cause cruise to resume previously set speed. This is the resume function. Accelerate function occurs when RESUME/ACCEL switch is rotated and held in position for more than one second. This causes the vehicle to accelerate until switch is released. When released, system maintains new set speed.
