DTC 81: Brake Switch Circuit Open Or Shorted: Notes

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart. To identify circuits and terminals referenced in text and flowcharts, see WIRING DIAGRAM  .

1. Checks brake switch status using scan tool.
2. Checks for an open on BRAKE fuse.
3. Checks for short to ground in brake switch input circuit between EBCM and stoplight switch.
4. Checks for short to ground in switched power circuit between EBCM and stoplight switch.
5. Check for open in switched power and brake switch input circuits between EBCM and stoplight switch.
