Code A087 - Red Brake Warning Light Circuit Open: Notes

This test verifies EBCM has continuity to Red BRAKE warning light. Because other systems also use this circuit, a short to ground cannot be detected. ABS warning light will flash to indicate malfunction, but ABS will not be disabled.

1. This step determines if fault is still present.
2. This step indicates if EBCM and circuit has ability to complete ground to Red BRAKE warning light.
3. This step tests for circuit completion to instrument cluster.
4. This step isolates if open circuit is due to EBCM failure or open circuit to Red BRAKE warning light.
5. This step checks for an open in park brake circuitry.
6. This step determines if malfunction is intermittent.
7. This step verifies condition of GAUGES fuse.
