Code A016 - Enable Relay Coil Circuit Open: Notes

Ignition voltage is supplied through terminal No. 5 of ABS enable relay. EBCM energizes pull-in coil by completing ground circuit at terminal F3 of EBCM. Magnetic field created will close enable relay contacts to supply battery voltage to EBCM, providing power to motors and solenoids.

Code A016 can only be set after Code A014 has been set. This test checks for open in enable relay coil circuit. An open in this circuit will prevent enable relay from being energized and voltage from reaching motors and solenoids. ABS system is disabled and ABS warning light is turned on.

1. This step determines if EBCM is capable of controlling relay.
2. This step checks for voltage at pull-in coil of enable relay.
3. This step checks for continuity through pull-in coil of enable relay.
4. This step verifies integrity of relay control circuit.
5. This step checks for intermittents in wiring or connectors.
