Chart C-12, 2.3L, Cooling Fan Circuit Diagnosis: Notes

Cooling fan is ECM controlled based on inputs from coolant temperature sensor, manifold air temperature sensor, A/C control switch, A/C pressure sensor and Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). ECM grounds circuit No. 335, energizing cooling fan relay and turning on cooling fan. Cooling fan is turned on under following conditions:

Fan relay is energized regardless of vehicle speed under following conditions:

Cooling fan may also be turned on when engine is not running.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic charts.
  1. With field service mode activated, cooling fan driver should close, energizing cooling fan relay.
  2. Tests if fault is in wiring, fan or fan connection.
