Heater System: Description
Heater system provides heating, ventilation, windshield defogging and front side window defogging. Rear compartment air distribution system and blower fan are other options. Rear blower is controlled by a linear 4-position control switch on instrument panel, adjacent to radio controls.
Ventilation, heat and defrost positions are controlled within heater module assembly. Heater module is composed of blower air inlet and heater/defroster. Blower air inlet is mounted to engine side of firewall, and heater/defroster assembly is mounted to passenger side. System does not have hot water control valve, and coolant circulation keeps heater core hot at all times. Air passing through core receives maximum heat. Air is distributed through heater outlet, defroster duct, vent ducts and outlets.
Vacuum actuated doors control various air flow modes and temperature mixtures. A slide potentiometer activates an electric motor-actuated temperature door, which controls air flow through heater core. Blower fan is controlled by a 4-position push button.
