Blower Control Module Test

  1. Turn ignition on. Set control panel in "ECON" mode and blower motor in high speed mode (blower motor index at 10). With blower control module disconnected, measure voltage between Red wire and ground.
  2. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If not, check Red wire and Rust colored fusible link for an open circuit.
  3. Measure voltage between Red wire and Black wire. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If not, check Black (ground) wire for an open circuit. Ensure that right rear engine compartment ground is clean and tight.
  4. Measure voltage between Brown wire and ground. If reading is approximately 5 volts, go to next step. If not, check Brown wire for an open circuit. If wire is okay, go to A/C-HEATER CONTROL PANEL TEST.
  5. Measure voltage between Purple wire and ground. If reading is 12 volts, go to next step. If not, check Purple wire for an open or short circuit to ground. If wire is okay, replace blower control module.
  6. Change blower motor from high speed mode to low speed mode (blower motor index at one). Measure voltage between Brown wire and ground. If reading is less than one volt, go to next step. If not, go to A/C-HEATER CONTROL PANEL TEST.
  7. Measure voltage between Purple wire and ground. If reading is less than 5 volts, replace blower motor. If not, check Purple wire for an open or short circuit to ground. If wire is okay, replace blower control module.
