Starting Indicator
Lights are used to indicate when the vehicle is ready to be started. A wait lamp is lit when glow plugs are heating. As the combustion chambers reach starting temperature, the wait lamp goes off, indicating that the engine can be cranked to start. Early diesel models also used a start lamp.
