Installation Procedure

    NOTE:
    • Quantity of connectors may vary based on option content.
    • Quantity of retainers may vary based on option content.

    Install the chassis wiring harness (3).

  2. Connect the electrical connectors and install the wiring harness retainers as necessary. (1, 2)

    Drive Motor Control Module Cooling Outlet Hose (3) @ Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe - Connect

  4. Install the drive motor control module cooling outlet hose retainer (2).
  5. Rear Electric Drive Transmission Module Coolant Hose (1) @ Drive Motor Control Module Cooling Inlet Hose Fitting - Connect

    Rear Drive Motor Mount (2) - Install

    7. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

  8. Rear Drive Motor Mount Bolt (1) - Install NEW and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

    Output Shaft Seal- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install NEW [2x]

  10. Output Shaft Retaining Ring- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install NEW [2x]
  11. Apply a thin coating of grease to the splines of the left side and right side output shafts. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

    WARNING:

    The transmission may weigh in excess of 215 kg (475 lbs), either by itself or in combination with additional components, use extreme care when installing, removing, or moving the transmission. Assistance from a hoist and/or an assistant may be required.

    • Ensure that lifting equipment can properly support the transmission and any additional components.
    • Ensure rigging applies vertical force to the lifting points and never horizontal.
    • The use of a load leveler is recommended.

    Failure to follow these guidelines can result in personal injury and/or component damage.

    CAUTION:

    Prior to installing an electric drive transmission, make sure the shipping lifting brackets are removed from the transmission. Failure to remove the shipping lifting brackets can cause damage to the vehicle.

    Using an overhead hoist or suitable lifting device, lower the rear suspension cradle (1) onto the rear electric drive transmission module.

  13. Remove the lifting device.

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

    Rear Drive Motor Mount Bolt (1) - Install NEW and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Rear Drive Motor Rear Mount Bolt (1) - Install NEW and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Install the left side and right side rear wheel drive shafts (1) at the rear electric drive transmission module.

    Rear Suspension Upper Control Arm Inner Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install NEW [2x]

  18. Rear Suspension Upper Control Arm Inner Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]
    19. CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

  19. Rear Suspension Upper Control Arm Inner Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Rear Suspension Upper Trailing Link- Left Side and Right Side (5) - Install [2x]

  21. Rear Suspension Trailing Arm Washer- Left Side and Right Side (4) - Install [2x]
    22. CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

  22. Rear Suspension Link Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Install NEW and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  23. Rear Suspension Trailing Arm Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install NEW [2x]
  24. Rear Suspension Trailing Arm Nut- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]
    25. CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

  25. Rear Suspension Trailing Arm Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Install the left side and right side rear wheel speed sensors (5).

  27. Rear Suspension Automatic Forward Lighting Leveling Position Sensor- Left Side and Right Side (4) - Install [2x]
  28. Connect the left side and right side rear suspension automatic forward lighting leveling position sensor arms (3) at the ball studs.
  29. Wheel Speed Sensor Bracket Nut- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  30. Install the left side and right side rear wheel speed sensor retainers (1).

    Install the chassis wiring harness (3).

    32. NOTE:
    • Quantity of retainers may vary based on option content.
    • Quantity of connectors may vary based on option content.
  32. Connect the electrical connectors and install the wiring harness retainers as necessary. (1, 2)

    Install the cooling hose retainer (2).

  34. Install the wiring harness retainer (1).

    Install the left side and right side rear coil spring insulators (1), rear coil springs (2), and rear coil spring lower insulators (3) as assemblies.

    Rear Suspension Cradle (1) - Install - Rear Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation

  37. Fill the electric drive transmission. Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill 
  38. Perform the necessary programming and setup procedure: Control Module References
