Circuit/System Testing
- Identify how to disable high voltage.
- Identify how to test for the presence of high voltage.
- Identify condition under which high voltage is always present and personal protection equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
- Safety glasses with appropriate side shields when within 15 meters (50 feet) of the vehicle, either indoors or outdoors.
- Certified and up-to-date Class "0" Insulation gloves rated at 1000V with leather protectors.
- Visually and functionally inspect the gloves before use.
- Wear the Insulation gloves with leather protectors at all times when working with the high voltage battery assembly, whether the system is energized or not.
- Always perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure prior to servicing any High Voltage component or connection.
- On some applications a K107 drive motor control module is located within the Drive Motor Power Distribution Control Module/T18 Battery Charger.
- Perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure for servicing the T18 Battery Charger or K107 Drive Motor Control Module as applicable to Vehicle Option Content and the module setting this DTC.
- Remove the 3 Phase access cover:
- Equipped with RPO P77 remove the 3 Phase access cover @ K107 Drive Motor Control Module.
- If equipped with RPO S76 remove the 3 Phase access cover @ T18 Battery Charger.
Refer to: Drive Motor Power Distribution Control Module Replacement (XFD / K28) , or Drive Motor Power Distribution Control Module Replacement (XFD / K2O / K2W)
- Check for loose U, V, W phase Drive Motor Power Inverter Module connector bolts.
- If bolts are loose
Tighten the bolts to the proper torque specification.
Refer to: Rear Fastener Specifications , or Front Fastener Specifications If applicable
- Go to next step: If bolts were properly torqued
- If bolts are loose
- Remove the component:
- Equipped with RPO P77 K107 Drive Motor Control Module
- If equipped with RPO S76 T18 Battery Charger
- Test for infinite resistance between each of the phase circuit terminals listed below and the transmission case:
- Phase U
- Phase V
- Phase W
- If less than infinite resistance
Replace the component: Drive Motor Stator
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 1 ohms between the test points:
- Phase U to Phase V
- Phase U to Phase W
- Phase V to Phase W
- If 1 ohms or greater
Replace the component: Drive Motor Stator
- Go to next step: If less than 1 ohms
- Replace the component:
- Equipped with RPO P77 K107 Drive Motor Control Module
- If equipped with RPO S76 T18 Battery Charger
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
- Verify DTC P0A5E, P0A61, P0A64 is not set
- If any of the DTCs are set
- Replace the appropriate component: Drive Motor Stator
- Go to next step: If none of the DTCs are set
- All OK.
Always perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure prior to servicing any High Voltage component or connection. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.
The High Voltage Disabling procedure includes the following steps:
Before working on any high voltage system, be sure to wear the following Personal Protection Equipment:
Failure to follow the procedures may result in serious injury or death.
Select the DMM relative mode to ensure the highest meter accuracy of this very low resistance measurement.
