Installation Procedure

  1. Install a NEW exhaust gasket to the turbocharger and position the catalytic converter to the engine.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  2. Install NEW exhaust manifold studs (2) and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  3. Install NEW catalytic converter nuts (1) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  4. Install the catalytic converter heat shield (2) and tighten the fasteners (1) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the transmission fastener (1) and tighten to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).
  6. Install the exhaust front pipe. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LF3) Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (AWD) Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (FWD) .
  7. Install the heated oxygen sensor. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 Sensor 1 (FWD LFX)Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 Sensor 1 (AWD LFX)Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 Sensor 1 (LF3) .
  8. Install the turbocharger wastegate actuator vacuum tank. Refer to Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Tank Replacement (LF3) .
  9. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
