Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. 2:  This step checks if there is other DTCs that can cause the BPP failure.
  2. 4:  This step checks to see if the DTC will reset as current.

1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle
2  Use the scan tool to display DTCs for the body control module (BCM).
Does the scan tool display DTC C0277 or C0278?		 Go to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle Go to Step 3

  1. Confirm that the brake pedal position (BPP) is adjusted to the correct position and perform the BPP calibration procedure. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration .
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.
Does DTC C0161 reset?		 Go to Diagnostic Aids Go to Step 4

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.
Does DTC C0161 reset?		 Go to Step 2  System OK
